How To Find Good Keywords For A Website

If you find good Keywords for your website, you will have more website visitors

Once your Online business website is up and running, you will be looking for ways to maximize your change of getting FREE website traffic. It’s only natural. And one of the best answer is simply knowing how to find good keywords for a website.

So How Do Good Keywords For a Website Help?

Keywords are words that people type into Search Engine queries before getting back a Search Engine Results Page (SERP).

If you need a place to teach you how to build your very first website, please click here.

HOW good keywords help you is really simple. If you know what search term your clients are typing in, then you can adjust the content of your blog post to better match your audience’s needs. This should result in a lift in your SERP and hopefully be good enough to take you all the way to PAGE 1 of GOOGLE for that exact keyword match.

So obviously the reverse is true. If you don’t know what keywords term your best customers use to find your website, then you don’t know how best to help your customers find you! The internet is massive after all.

Now if you have HEAPS and HEAPS of money, then you can pay for Google AdWords all day, every day and get a lot of PAID traffic that way.

But if you don’t have an unlimited budget, then you just need to be smart about how you go about things instead.

The internet is moving so quickly and what used to work one (1) or two (2) years ago doesn’t work anymore.

Top Tip #1

The best way not to waste your time or your money or your energy trying to “guess” market trends is to get your head around FREE Keyword Search Tools which are readily available on the web.

The one that I use is called Jaaxy Keyword and Niche Research Tool. I have arranged a totally FREE $0 trial of Jaaxy for 30 FREE Searches.

Top Tip #2

Now that you know what keywords customers are using to find your competitors, NOW armed with this new information, you can beat your competitors by creating quality content that better matches the needs of your clients – and Poof! Like magic slowly but surely the Search Engines will notice and send you more and more FREE traffic, then will stay longer, which will lift your quality score and then – YES!! one day when you are not looking you will be ranked on Page #1 for that keyword search term that you were targeting.

People will say “how lucky you were”, but you will know the truth. It wasn’t luck at all.

It was you using a Keyword Research Tool like Jaaxy, then cross-referencing the results with client needs and the top terms used by your leading competitors – It was not luck at all!

So how do I use a SEO Keyword Selection Tool anyway?

How to choose good keywords is great for your SERP

OK I am glad you asked.

Let’s pretend that you niche is something pretty competitive, Let’s say “Shoes”.

Google Search results will show something like this to the left with 23,000,000 results.

This is to many to stand out quickly, so we will need to refine it down.

So let’s go with “Business Shoes”

The results are still 461,000 but this is much easier to work with.

Now we can select a topic or a product that we like and start talking about that one.

We then have to decide how we want to monetize (make money) from this website. Will you sell the items directly like a shoe store and handle the order processing and shipping or will you send them over to somewhere like Amazon and then take a commission only approach?

Once you have traffic you can really take your business in any direction that you like.

  3. I agree with the previous commenter that keywords aren’t always easy to find. I try to think of related topics to get good keywords that still apply to the content at some point in my post. I also have keywords that are used for my site overall, so I will use those instead of coming up with a keyword for some specific posts.

Thank you for recommending a great tool to help make this a bit easier. I will check out Jaaxy.

    1. Hi Theresa,

Thank you for visiting us today and for sharing a little of your personal experience with us, I really appreciate that.

I agree with you that some niches can be quite tricky when it comes to finding great keywords to us.  I also think that once your website gets established and you have written 50 or more posts, then trying to brainstorm new blog post ideas can get really difficult.  It’s almost like you have said everything that you wanted to say early on and now you are not sure what to write about next.

I like your idea to think about your website as a whole and if you think that you need to write a blog post on a particular topic with a particular keyword – then go for it!  I can see how that would still add value to your audience.  Well done for identifying that fact. Many people miss it.

I do use a SEO keyword tool to help me out though. I find that it just helps me “write with a purpose” and the whole process can be quicker that way.

  4. Hello Glenys!
I love writing and using Jaaxy as a keyword tool.
But it’s not always that I can find some that give proper meaning to what I would like to write about.
    My question for you is.
If I do not find a keyword phrase that gives traffic.
Would I also not have a chance that the post will be indexed?

    1. Hi Steen,

Thank you for visiting us today. I really appreciate that.

The question of “Good keywords” is a SUPER interesting one and one that anyone who is serious about starting a success online business needs to think very carefully about. So I thank you for writing your question.

I agree with you that some niches are not very popular and when you go to select a keyword that you can write about, it is very hard to find a meaningful one that ties in well as a post heading.

The challenge gets even harder when you have a very small niche and you have already written 30-50 blog posts and used up all the “good headings” early one.

Don’t despair though. After 30-50 blog posts you will have a pretty good idea about the EXACT needs of your audience and what they are looking for. Sometimes you just have to write blog posts that make sense for your audience. So you write the blog post for your audience and NOT for the Google search algorithm.

An example would be on a website that focusses on a hobby, you can talk about the hobby. You may need a tool or a specific piece of equipment in order to play the hobby or perform the task.

So post #1 you would pick your “Good keyword” and then write your post.  and somewhere in the post you would say “to learn more about this tool/ piece of equipment please click here” and then you go to post #2 which is dedicated to explaining what that tool/piece of equipment is.

Post #2 is so specific that it has very few people searching for it, so it is considered a “bad keyword”, but it makes sense for your audience and that is why you are writing it. As an added bonus, hopefully it is even a product review so that a few of your website visitors will buy the product and you will “convert” and make some money!

As long as you are writing for your audience and adding value to your website visitors, then you will be OK!

All posts get indexed eventually by the major search engines, so that is good to know. The better your website is then, the sooner you will get ranked in Google etc.

  5. I’m starting to understand more and more the importance of good keywords when it comes to website traffic. It’s currently my study of choice as I want to master the art of choosing the right ones.

A good keyword research tool is obviously important. I like the sound of this Jaaxy you talk about, and the fact that it starts with a free trial. I’m going to look into this. I think I need this.
