Hello and welcome,
You are here because you are curious about the best blogger websites for you. Am I right?
Blogging or a web log has become one of the fastest growing ways to make money over the internet.
With so much proven success all around you…. why not join in the fun as well?
Most people on the internet who want a blogging website can be grouped into three main categories:
1) People who want a personal or hobby site
2) People who want a business site
3) People who want a professional site
Regardless of which category you fall into, we can take a look at some of the major players and find which website is right for you.
Top Questions To Ask Yourself
Before deciding on which platform is the best for you, you should ask yourself a few key questions.
1) What do you want to website for?
Perhaps you only want a small personal website to update your family and friends about your latest travel adventure?
Perhaps you want a robust business site that multiple staff members can access?
Perhaps you want to run an e-commerce store with lots of different product offerings that comes complete with its own payment gateway?
2) Do you want your website to grow?
Some people just want a tiny little website for a very specific purpose.
Other people want a HEAP of website visitors and DON’T want their websites “crashing” at all. This is especially true for people in business
WordPress is the clear market leader when it comes to cheap, quick and easy websites to get you going.
WordPress can accommodate tiny hobby sites and large business sites while still maintaining quality.
You can have your own Domain Name (URL)
LOTS of free themes – think over 3,000 and counting. With so much variety you will be sure to find something that you like quickly and easily.
LOTS of plug-in’s. Plug-in’s are little pieces of code that developers have created for you so that people that don’t know code can still do advanced things with their websites. Examples in include a Social Share plug in or image customizing etc…. there are over 30,000 different plug-ins available so someone has already thought of a solution for every problem.
Mobile compatible. The internet is starting to be access more and more on our smart phones (or cell-phones). Because of this it is really important that sites become mobile compatible. Thankfully LOTS of WordPress sites are. The final answer however depends on the final theme that you have selected – so it pays to check for this before downloading your new theme.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) – Lots of sites rely on being found by major search engines as the #1 way that they generate traffic. Thankfully WordPress have some tricks up their sleeve to help with this.
All private domain names are usually only valid for 12 months and then they have to be renewed.
All private domain names require their own hosting (so monthly fees to keep the website on the internet).
Overall rating – 4.8 star out of 5
Weebly is a web-hosting service featuring a drag-and-drop website builder.
So #1 they are web hosting.
#2 they can help you build your website.
They have an entry level service and a premium (paid) service.
You do get hosting on their sub-domain for free! Yeah! This might be great for people who just want a small personal website or a temporary website for a special occasion eg Halloween or Black Friday.
Weebly can handle basic e-commerce.
Free accounts don’t get much user support – email service only. If you have basic or zero website skills then this option is not detailed enough for you. We all need support when starting out that’s for sure.
The customizing on the menu is very limited. It might be OK for you if you only have a tiny number of blog articles….. but if you were planning on having a site with HEAPS of articles then this option is not the best format for you.
The #1 issue that I have with Weebly is actually a technical issue. You don’t have control of your FTP server or any of the core platform files – because they are all hosted on Weebly and therefore the property of Weebly.
Final rating. If you are looking to have a tiny hobby website to show a few friends then the free option is great. If you are looking to keep your Website over the longer term or if you are looking to have HEAPS of articles published on your site, then Weebly is not for you.
Overall rating 4.3 out of 5 stars
Tumblr is a micro blogging website and social media platform in one. It allows users to access lots of other users blogs via a dashboard format. They currently host over 400 million blogs and counting.
It’s free to join.
Yes! hosting is included.
Tumblr is great for people who want to post shorter snippets of pictures / comments rather than the longer style traditional blog format (like what you are reading now).
Tumblr has a younger demographic of users compared with both traditional blogging sites and other social media platforms.
Tumblr allows for quick posting for phones, tablets etc.
NO you cannot have a private domain.
All the short sharp quick posting can be a problem -sometimes you want longer content.
There is ZERO administration of what is published – this means that pornography / inappropriate links are EVERYWHERE. It really is a problem when you consider that Tumblr targets a younger demographic…. Yikes! Censorship does have its place you know.
No spam blockers either….. gosh I hate spam, how about you?
This site is NOT for people who want to run their business on this platform. There is just too much pornography. There are other more professional platforms out there to choose from.
Overall: 4 out of 5 stars. It’s not my preferred platform, but I can appreciate why other people like it.
Other Choices To Look At
There are of course lots of other choices out there in “internet land”. New choices are actually being invented all the time.
Some noteworthy ones to consider include:
All sites have their good and their bad points. You will need to look at your needs and then see which ones are the best match for a business website or a personal website.
My #1 Recommendation
My top recommendation if you want to start a website or blog and you want it to look professional right off the bat AND be fully customizable so you can adapt it as your needs change – then WordPress is the way to go.

The Next Step – Monetize Your Blog
After you have set up your website, then the next step is to monetize your blog. We all want to make a few extra dollars right?
The easiest way to do this with your blog is via affiliate marketing.
Affiliate marketing is when you pick a niche or a topic that you really like, create a whole website around that and if your website visitors click on any of your special links and then go on and purchase a product then you earn a commission on the sale.
You don’t have to “buy” inventory… you don’t have to “sell” products / services to your family and friends to the point where they stop returning phone calls.
You just talk about them on your website and then let the internet “do its thing” while you are asleep in bed.
Why don’t you give it ago?
